Winter goldfish feeding

This evening i went out to put the ducks away. Its a warm January evening around 45F, damp but not soggy as it was a sunny day. On the way past the main pond I noticed a large Sarassa floating motionlessly at the waters edge. I turned on my headlamp to inspect the expected casualty only to see the fish lunge out of the water as it slurped down a long skinny 3 inch slug. As the fish returned to the water it expelled large bubbles from its gills as it chewed it's dinner. So much for fish not eating when the water temperature drops.
