Bristol Shubunkin Apogee poly mop spawn 7/21/11 (hatched 7/23/11

This is a natural in tank spawn of Bristol Shubunkins (Wolf).  It took place on 7/21/11 which was one week past the full moon, and was when the moon reached Apogee, which is when the moon is the furthest from the earth in it's elliptical orbit.

Mop loaded with eggs.

The spawn was incubated in a floating tub with light aeration.  Hatched in 72 hours.  There were very few infertile egg and 500 to 1,000 fry.  After they had hatched the mop needed to be removed as it took up most of the space in the tub.  The mop was slowly removed shaking it lightly as it was removed.  It was then transferred to a new tub of water to look for any stragglers.  There were a total of 5 fry trapped in the polymop.

Bristol Shubunkin (Metalic Parker x Matte Wolf) 6/11/11

Saw spawning activity this morning so I squeezed her in to a petri dish and grabbed a matte male from the Wolf OX strain.  Should result in a good outcross (OX) and give 100% calicos.

Better Bristol Shubunkin (Wolf OX Strain)

Their tails are starting to fill out.  I think the tails should have a lot of black as it makes them stand out.

A nice female.

My favorite.

Here's what the Pinky Mattes look like.

Bristol Shubunkins

A good friend from the Breeder's Social just sent me a dozen young of year Bristol Shubunkins.

The pinky mattes won't be very cold hardy but they are so beautiful especially with the bristol tail, they'll stay in for the winter.

I believe these are a couple generations from the original import and may have been outcrossed at least once for vigor. It's great to see you can recover the heart shaped tail.
They're a bit shy from the flash but you can see the heart shaped Bristol tail.
