Upgrading my Reverse Osmosis filters at work. Currently have 7x 900 gallon per day systems that I’ve kept running for 19 years... replacing them with two state of the art 14,000 gallon per day systems with all the bells and whistles. Best part is I got the university infrastructure people to pay for them and maintain them! Currently the systems turn on with float switches. The many machines will simply be replaced with feed lines. To automate the fill lines to the fish systems I’ll simply install this 304 stainless actuated ball valve and plug it into the piggyback plug of the float switch. Swing arm standpipe with slotted pipe in bottom skimming/flooded suction mode. The tub in this configuration is on recirculating flow but the volume/water level is dependent on the sump level and all but about 4 inches of this tank can be considered sump volume. The slotted pipe collects debris from the bottom. Rotate the arm up for slotted pipe surface skimming. #goldfishgaragesurfaceskimmer. A new skimmer invention. The top of a two litter soda bottle heat gunned and hot glued into a 1” x 3/4” reducing bushing. Then into a 1.5” x 1” reducing bushing’d to the 1.5” drain. This tank is normally bottom drained with slotted pipe. The surface was getting a bit gross so I rigged this up and in 20 minutes he surface was clean as can be. With three elbows you can align any two Surfaces to make the skimmer take the thinnest surface film for great skimming even at relatively low or high flows.
