An early winter blast

Last Friday it snowed all day, it never snows all day in the willamette valley. It was cold and dry snow that just fell off the bamboo. It hasn't been above freezing in 4 days and it's been as low as the single digits, the snow is still powder. So cold and unusual, tanks that have never had surface ice are 4 inches thick with ice. The greenhouse system has an 800 watt heater which is keeping the system water in the low 40's. The inside of the plastic with snow on it was in the high 30's and only 20 on the outside.

The Goldfish Greenhouse

I just finished manufacturing this 10 x 24 DIY greenhouse out of materials all purchased from Home Depot.

It was built around an existing system of 8x 300 gallon Laguna Tubs and a 100 gallon sump run by a 2.5 cubic foot Aquabead filter system with a 130 watt DIY uv utilizing emperor aquatic hardware.

There's still some finish work to do but it's enclosed in ready for winter.

Greenhouse for the Laguna tub System

The latest project is to build a 10' x 25' hoop greenhouse. The end hoops are up and just 4 more to go. The hoops are two piece la that bolt at the peak. Each hoop is inserted into larger tubes pounded into the ground. I can hang from a single hoop set, they are strong!
